RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, May 24, 2024. With its logistical and transportation services, Saudi Arabia is prepared to welcome pilgrims when the Hajj season begins in 1445 H. This year, the entire range of services is not only accessible, but it is also expedited in terms of time and resource participation by contemporary technologies.

An important logistical hub, the Islamic Port in Jeddah, has been the scene of numerous agency preparations.

Among the integrated services will be the handling of containers on arriving ships, careful assessment of animal sacrifices to guarantee the animals' safety, and prompt transportation of animals to holy sites. It's vital to remember that the port has top-notch infrastructure for accepting and managing marine tugs of all sizes. Large and medium-sized vessel handling need these facilities. 75% of the Kingdom's imports and exports are handled by the 12.5 km2 Jeddah Islamic Port, which has 64 berths. Beyond the port's activities, the area is important since it offers complete logistical assistance for several Hajj tour events. We intend to roll out last-mile delivery options at sacred sites using the latest innovations in autonomous driving and robotics. Improving the Hajj experience, these efforts will be a feat in themselves. We will pilot autonomous automobiles moving goods inside holy places, including the last mile of Makkah and the surrounding areas.

It shows that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is willing to improve. On the Logistics Performance Index, Saudi Arabia has risen 17 spots impressively on the 2023 World Bank, which indicates very strong commitments to efficiency improvements in most of the sub-indices concerned. Further improvement must be achieved in infrastructure development, processes of customs, timely delivery, tracking and tracing capabilities, and maritime transport capacity.
