Riyadh, May 11, 2024—The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, praised the UN General Assembly for adopting a resolution endorsing Palestine's claim to full membership in the organization and urging the UN Security Council to reevaluate the Palestinian bid.
The secretary-general of the GCC noted that the resolution's vote by 143 nations demonstrated support for the Palestinian people's right to recognition and their belief in that right, allowing the State of Palestine to fulfill all of its obligations within this international organization.
He emphasized that the GCC remains steadfast in its support of the Palestinian cause and that an agreement based on the cessation of Israeli occupation and the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with east Jerusalem as its capital, must be reached
