Riyadh, December 27, 2024 – The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) has successfully concluded an important training program titled "Intervention in Hazardous Material Incidents." The event, which took place at the Civil Defense Institute in Riyadh, brought together a diverse group of professionals from across the IMCTC member states, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening global cooperation in counter-terrorism and disaster response.

The program, co-organized by the IMCTC and the General Directorate of Civil Defense, was funded by the Saudi government. It aimed to bolster the capabilities of personnel tasked with responding to hazardous material incidents in various settings, from industrial accidents to potential threats involving nuclear, chemical, biological, and radiological materials. Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, IMCTC Secretary-General, and Major General Dr. Hammoud bin Suleiman Al-Faraj, Acting Director General of Civil Defense, both attended the closing of the program, underscoring its significance.

This training session featured a comprehensive curriculum that combined both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Participants learned about the latest techniques for managing hazardous material incidents, including detection methods, safe handling procedures, and emergency response strategies. Special emphasis was placed on biological risks and how to implement preventive measures and interventions to protect communities and first responders.

Candidates from 17 member states of the IMCTC took part in the program, highlighting the coalition's commitment to fostering international collaboration in tackling emerging threats. By sharing expertise and strengthening their collective skills, the countries involved aim to improve their response capabilities and ensure a more effective and coordinated approach to handling complex emergencies.

The successful completion of the program further solidifies Saudi Arabia’s leadership role within the IMCTC and reinforces its broader objectives of fostering global peace and security, particularly in the realms of counter-terrorism and disaster preparedness. As part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative, these efforts contribute to the Kingdom's growing influence as a regional and international hub for training, cooperation, and excellence in crisis management.
