Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 7 February 2024 - Topian, the NEOM Food Company dedicated to revolutionizing food systems for a sustainable future, made significant strides on the opening day of the Saudi International Marine Exhibition & Conference (SIMEC) by securing three strategic partnership agreements. These agreements aim to fortify Saudi Arabia's position as a global leader in sustainable aquaculture.
One of the pivotal partnerships was with The National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program (NLFDP), focusing on research, technological development, and sustainable aquaculture practices in the Red Sea. Additionally, it aims to establish a national seafood market, emphasizing the importance of local production and consumption.
In line with its vision for sustainability and innovation, Topian inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pure Salmon, a renowned leader in land-based aquaculture technology. This collaboration will see the establishment of a state-of-the-art salmon production facility at NEOM, covering the entire value chain of salmon production. This groundbreaking venture will cater to the rising demand for high-quality salmon in the Kingdom and neighboring regions, championing freshness, quality, and taste.
Another significant partnership was forged with the National Aquaculture Group (NAQUA), with a focus on enhancing the local aquaculture sector and commercializing NAQUA's seafood products across the Saudi market. This collaboration aims to drive efficiency, sustainability, and innovation in aquaculture practices, fostering mutual growth and market expansion.
Dr. Ali Al-Shaikhi, CEO of the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, highlighted the agreement's multifaceted approach to advancing the livestock and fisheries sector. He emphasized the importance of collaborative research, technological innovation, and the establishment of regulatory frameworks tailored to the Red Sea's unique ecosystem.

Topian's dedication to sustainable aquaculture is evident in its pursuit of advanced technologies and strategic partnerships. By bolstering the aquaculture sector, Topian aims to enhance food security, reduce reliance on imports, and mitigate the carbon footprint associated with fish imports. These efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Life Below Water and Climate Action, contributing to Saudi Arabia's socio-economic and environmental objectives.
