Tourism Development Fund (TDF) signs MoU with Spain's IE University

Riyadh, February 29, 2024, The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IE University in Spain, a prominent higher education institution dedicated to training influential leaders. The primary objective of this collaboration is to implement customized educational programs and training courses for TDF employees, in alignment with the National Tourism Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030. The MoU, signed by TDF CEO Qusai bin Abdullah Al-Fakhri and IE University President Santiago Iñiguez, is aimed at enhancing the knowledge, awareness, and competencies of TDF employees in the tourism sector.

Al-Fakhri emphasized that the MoU represents a significant step toward fostering positive interaction between the tourism sector and educational institutions. The ultimate goal is to elevate human capabilities, equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge, and align development efforts with quality and excellence standards. This, in turn, contributes to professional growth, active participation in Saudi Arabia's booming tourism sector, and a pivotal role in driving growth and prosperity.

Furthermore, Al-Fakhri highlighted the TDF's commitment to developing skills and competencies, providing professional development opportunities, and ensuring a qualified workforce capable of meeting the demands of the growing tourism sector. The collaboration with IE University is a testament to the commitment to creating a supportive educational environment in crucial tourism regions.

IE University's President emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education and the tourism sector, underscoring the need to develop specialized professionals in the field. The agreement aims to achieve integration between education and tourism, working towards producing qualified individuals.

This MoU is part of the TDF's broader initiative to collaborate with top universities, training centers, and international expertise houses. Among the launched educational programs is the Graduate Development Program (Tourism Olou), designed to develop Saudi talents, enhance competitiveness, and provide essential skills for the tourism sector. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to investing in education and human capital development to support the growth and sustainability of the tourism industry.
