" Training Initiative: Thirty trainees from the Ministry of Tourism's Tourism Guidance Program visited the King Abdulaziz Public Library to enhance their knowledge of cultural tourism and gain practical experience in delivering unique cultural tourism experiences."

Riyadh, December 02, 2024 – In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of Saudi Arabia’s future tourism leaders, thirty trainees from the Tourism Guidance Program of the Ministry of Tourism visited the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh yesterday. This visit marked a key component of their ongoing training, designed to deepen their understanding of cultural tourism and equip them with the practical tools needed to deliver an exceptional cultural experience for visitors to the Kingdom.

The program is a critical part of the Ministry's broader efforts to develop the tourism sector in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes the importance of cultural heritage and the promotion of Saudi Arabia's rich history. Through hands-on experiences like this, the trainees are gaining invaluable exposure to the Kingdom's diverse cultural offerings, which are essential in presenting the Kingdom as a premier tourist destination. The visit allowed the trainees to immerse themselves in the wealth of knowledge housed within the King Abdulaziz Public Library, a prominent cultural institution dedicated to preserving the Kingdom's historical, literary, and cultural heritage.

During their visit, the trainees were also treated to a special screening of the historic film "Princess Alice", which chronicles the visit of Princess Alice, the granddaughter of Queen Victoria, to Saudi Arabia in 1938. This visit was notable for being the first by a member of the British royal family to the Kingdom, marking an important moment in Saudi Arabia's diplomatic and cultural history. The screening provided the trainees with a deeper insight into the historical context of Saudi Arabia's international relationships and the role of cultural exchange in shaping the country’s global image.

By incorporating such historical and cultural learning into their training, the Ministry of Tourism ensures that the next generation of tourism guides are not only equipped with the practical skills needed for their profession but are also deeply knowledgeable about the Kingdom's past and how to effectively communicate its cultural richness to global visitors. The initiative reflects a commitment to offering a distinctive and immersive cultural tourism experience that showcases Saudi Arabia’s heritage, diversity, and longstanding historical connections to the wider world.
