RIYADH, March 28, 2025 — On Tuesday, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) announced that traffic diversions would be implemented on the Northern Ring Road and Al-Takhassusi Street as part of a significant infrastructure project aimed at improving the road network around the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD).
The KAFD project is a key element of the wider Riyadh Ring Road and Main Roads Development Program, which seeks to enhance transportation efficiency and accessibility across the capital.
The RCRC confirmed that this initiative is one of eight major developments currently underway in the program’s second phase, with a total investment surpassing SR8 billion.
Work around KAFD includes the construction of three new intersections and 19 bridges along a 20-kilometer stretch. These improvements are designed to facilitate access to the financial district, which is central to Riyadh’s urban and economic growth.
The Royal Commission is collaborating closely with relevant authorities to manage the traffic diversions and ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the construction process. The second phase is expected to be completed in about three years.
The first phase of the road network development program, which began in August 2024, involved four major projects, with a total cost of SR13 billion.
