Riyadh, November 21, 2023, In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable transportation, the Transport General Authority (TGA) has introduced Saudi Arabia's inaugural hydrogen truck in partnership with Almajdouie Logistics. The initiative is a testament to TGA's steadfast commitment to fostering an eco-friendly environment by eliminating carbon emissions and aligning with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, in harmony with the aspirations of the Saudi Vision 2030.
The hydrogen truck, as highlighted in the TGA's press release, operates with zero carbon emissions, reinforcing Saudi Arabia's dedication to sustainable development. Tailored for the safe and efficient transportation of goods over extended distances exceeding 400 km, the truck relies on hydrogen as its fuel source, boasting a substantial capacity of up to 35 kg and a gas pressure of 350 bar.
This pioneering launch is the outcome of a strategic alliance between Almajdouie Logistics and Air Products Company, with the shared goal of establishing an environmentally conscious solution for hydrogen transportation in the Kingdom. The collaboration extends beyond the introduction of the hydrogen truck and encompasses the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of hydrogen-related infrastructure, including strategically positioned hydrogen refuelling stations across the country. The comprehensive agreement aligns with the broader feasibility study in support of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative.
Notably, Almajdouie Logistics has secured the first operating card for hydrogen trucks in the Kingdom. This initiative aims to ensure the availability of all relevant data related to the trucks, affirming compliance with necessary requirements and technical specifications.
