Turkish and Saudi ministries sign MoU for mining collaboration.




Riyadh, August 28, 2023, A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration between the two ministries in the mining industry was signed by Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and Saudi Arabian Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef. During Al-Khorayef's current official visit to Turkey, the ministers signed the MoU. By exchanging knowledge in the areas of mineral exploration services, laboratories, drilling methods, and geological services, the MoU seeks to improve cooperation between the two parties. The MoU also aims to make it easier to share projects, ideas, and knowledge pertaining to the investigation of crucial mineral supply chains. The MoU identifies areas of collaboration between the Saudi and Turkish sides, particularly in terms of R&D, clean mining technologies, resource efficiency and substitution, and other relevant technologies. Additionally, the MoU calls for fostering collaborations between the private sector and mining authorities in the two nations as well as enabling private sector businesses from Saudi Arabia and Turkey to jointly participate in the mining sector.
