Twelve People Are Arrested by Asir Border Guards for Trying to Smuggle 266 kg of Khat


- On May 24, 2024, Border Guards in Al-Rabwah discovered twelve Yemeni nationals attempting to smuggle 266 kg of khat.


- After the necessary processes were completed, the seized materials were delivered to the relevant authorities.


- The General Directorate of Narcotics Control is still urging all residents and individuals to report any information available on drug sales or smuggling through various means, including via phone calls and emails, with a promise of confidentiality.


Abha, on May 24, 2024, land patrols conducted by the Border Guards in Al-Rabwah, which is located in the Asir Region, discovered twelve Yemeni nationals who were attempting to smuggle 266 kilograms of khat.We turned the seizures over to the appropriate authorities once the preliminary statutory procedures were completed. People living in Saudi Arabia or any citizen can report drug smuggling activities to the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) by all means necessary. Residents in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Region are required to dial the three digits phone number of 911 when they receive any tip on drug trafficking and selling within their area while the rest of the regions other than these are supposed to call 999. Residents are at liberty to send an email to [email protected] if they feel unable to reach authorities via phone calls. All information will remain confidential.
