Madinah, March 27, 2025 – The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has completed the replacement of 133,459 LED lighting units in the Prophet’s Mosque and its facilities, meeting top international standards. The initiative standardized the lighting colors, resolving previous inconsistencies in the illumination of the minarets, domes, and roof.

The new lighting system enhances the visual identity of the Prophet’s Mosque, highlighting its architectural beauty and improving the nighttime view. With a color temperature of 4000K, the lighting creates a calming and reassuring atmosphere, providing a comfortable and safe environment for worshippers and visitors.

The authority has implemented advanced smart lighting systems that control light distribution, intensity, and color temperature according to specific needs. These systems offer flexibility and energy efficiency while also helping to reduce the attraction of locusts and other insects around the mosque.

In line with sustainability, the new lighting solutions adhere to environmental standards by minimizing energy consumption without compromising on quality or aesthetics. The authority continues to incorporate cutting-edge technology into the Two Holy Mosques to enhance the visitor experience and maintain a spiritually enriching atmosphere.
