Banjul, March 3, 2025 – The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) successfully implemented two volunteer medical projects in obstetrics and gynecology and pediatric general surgery in the city of Banjul, The Gambia, from February 15 to 22, 2025. The medical missions, which saw the participation of 19 volunteers from various medical specialties, were aimed at providing critical healthcare services to underserved communities in The Gambia.

During the course of the projects, the volunteer medical team performed a total of 47 obstetrics and gynecology surgeries, 37 vascular surgeries, 12 pediatric urology surgeries, and 11 pediatric surgeries. All procedures were successfully completed, demonstrating the high level of expertise and commitment from the volunteers. The surgeries addressed urgent medical needs, particularly in areas where access to specialized care is limited, significantly improving the quality of life for many patients.

The initiative drew the attention and appreciation of high-level Gambian officials. President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, met with the Saudi volunteer delegation to express his gratitude for the contributions made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief. President Barrow praised the humanitarian efforts of KSrelief, noting that these projects are a testament to the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access for vulnerable populations around the world.

The President's wife also visited the headquarters of the volunteer medical campaign, where she commended the volunteers for their dedication and hard work. She highlighted the positive impact these medical projects have on patient groups and the broader community in The Gambia.

This medical mission is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader volunteer healthcare program, which is delivered through KSrelief. The program focuses on providing medical care to populations affected by conflict, poverty, and natural disasters, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the critical health services they need. The success of these projects in The Gambia reflects KSrelief’s continued leadership in global humanitarian assistance and its commitment to improving the well-being of individuals and families worldwide.

KSrelief’s volunteer medical initiatives are not only a vital source of support for communities in need but also an expression of Saudi Arabia’s values of solidarity, compassion, and responsibility on the international stage. Through these projects, KSrelief remains steadfast in its mission to deliver life-saving care and enhance the health outcomes of vulnerable populations around the globe.
