Makkah, March 22, 2025, Umm Al-Qura University, in partnership with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has launched the second edition of the Historical and Enrichment Sites Hackathon, designed to improve the experiences of visitors and pilgrims. The hackathon, a first-of-its-kind event, focuses on creating innovative, knowledge-based solutions for enhancing historical and religious sites in Makkah and Madinah. It is open to Saudi university students, designers, planners, and software developers, and includes tracks in area design, interactive interfaces, and content creation. Participants will work on technological and interactive solutions, such as smart applications and augmented reality, to make these historical locations more engaging and informative.
