UN recognizes Saudi Arabia's $1.2 billion aid package for Yemen's government strengthening

New York, Aug 17, 2023, Abdullah Al-Saadi, Yemen's permanent representative to the UN, expressed his gratitude for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's unwavering political, economic, and developmental assistance. This support is instrumental in carrying out the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. In a statement reported by the official Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Al-Saadi expressed on Wednesday in the Security Council that this support is a tangible manifestation of the profound, robust, and confidential ties between Yemen and the Kingdom. In a recent statement, he highlighted that the Kingdom has unveiled a substantial aid package totaling $1.2 billion. This significant financial support is specifically earmarked to bolster the Yemeni government and the Presidential Leadership Council while also providing much-needed economic assistance to the war-torn nation.

In a move aimed at tackling the general budget deficit and driving economic growth, Saudi Arabia has announced significant economic support. This financial aid is expected to empower the government to implement a range of crucial economic, financial, and monetary reforms. Additionally, it will enable the government to fulfill its responsibilities in stabilizing service conditions, ensuring food security, and safeguarding the national currency.
