Washington, October 30, 2023, Martin Griffiths, the UN's Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, has stressed that the situation in Gaza has deteriorated to its worst possible state. The Israeli occupation forces have been engaged in hostilities in the occupied Palestinian territory for more than three weeks since Griffiths landed there. Griffiths announced in a news release that he intended to speak with all relevant stakeholders to discuss methods to broaden the humanitarian response. He urged all parties to respect international humanitarian law, free hostages, put the safety of civilians first no matter where they are, and prioritize the protection of civilians.
