UNRWA School in Gaza Bombed by Israel Is Condemned by GCC Secretary General

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi gave a very strong condemnation of the Israeli airstrike that was directed at a school within the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza Strip.

Albudaiwi described the acts of the Israeli occupation forces as barbaric and a clear disobedience to international agreements and treaties.

He urged the international community to put pressure on Israel to cease its abuses against the Palestinian people and called for strict consequences against these crimes.

The bombardment of a school run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which houses thousands of displaced people in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, has been strongly condemned by the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi. Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi made this statement in Riyadh on June 8, 2024. The Israeli bombardment of a school that was housing displaced people, which resulted in dozens of martyrs and numerous injuries, Albudaiwi said, is compelling evidence of the Israeli occupation forces' barbarism and flagrant disdain for international conventions, accords, and treaties.

Albudaiwi emphasized that the Israeli shelling of the school resulted in multiple injuries and the deaths of dozens of martyrs. He emphasized the importance of taking stringent measures against these heinous crimes that violate the most fundamental principles of international and humanitarian law, and he urged the international community to take responsibility and exert pressure on the Israeli occupation forces to stop their grave and serious violations against the Palestinian people, with whom they share a brotherly relationship.

In addition, the secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reaffirmed the firm stances that the GCC states have taken regarding the Palestinian cause. He referred to the Palestinian cause as the central and primary cause for Arabs and Muslims, and he expressed support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital. He made this assertion in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.
