Vice Foreign Minister attends GCC's International Women’s Day celebration

Riyadh, Mar 9, 2024, Representing Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Vice Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji took part in the commemoration of International Women’s Day organized by the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The event took place at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh on Friday.

During his address, Eng. El-Khereiji underscored the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing women's empowerment, aligning it with the objectives outlined in Vision 2030. He emphasized the pivotal role of women as integral contributors to societal progress.

Furthermore, the Vice Minister reiterated Saudi Arabia's dedication to safeguarding women's rights, eradicating discrimination, and providing support across all spheres, thereby positioning Saudi women as indispensable partners in the nation's journey of transformation, development, and growth across various sectors.

Eng. El-Khereiji also drew attention to the poignant context in which International Women’s Day falls, highlighting the plight of Palestinian women in the Gaza Strip amidst ongoing Israeli violations of international laws and humanitarian principles. He reaffirmed the Kingdom's unwavering condemnation of these unlawful acts and humanity crimes committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian women and the broader Palestinian population.

Emphasizing the urgent need to halt hostilities, Eng. El-Khereiji called for an immediate ceasefire and the implementation of measures to ensure the protection of civilians, particularly women and children, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
