Kampala, January 22, 2024, Representing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, actively participated in the third South Summit of the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China) at the leaders' level, held in Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
During the summit, the vice foreign minister advocated for the creation of conducive conditions to resume earnest and effective negotiations aimed at achieving peace. He underscored the significance of pursuing a two-state solution, aligning with relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. This approach, he emphasized, safeguards the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state, with East Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital, based on the borders of 1967.
In reaffirming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to the security and stability of all regional countries, Eng. El-Khereiji expressed support for initiatives that contribute to collective cooperation for development and prosperity. He emphasized the Kingdom's dedication to addressing development issues, advancing humanitarian initiatives, and extending support to Southern countries.
The vice minister highlighted the Kingdom's commitment to providing essential services to underserved communities, aiming to build a more resilient and prosperous future. Furthermore, he addressed the challenges posed by climate change, emphasizing the importance of advocating for viable climate solutions. Eng. El-Khereiji brought attention to the Green Middle East Initiative initiated by Saudi Arabia, aiming to chart the region's course in safeguarding the environment and contributing to global sustainability goals.
In addition, the vice minister emphasized the necessity of addressing key challenges arising from the digital economy and emerging technologies to instill trust in these advancements. Eng. El-Khereiji's active participation in the summit showcased the Kingdom's multifaceted commitment to regional stability, development, and global environmental responsibility.
