Riyadh, December 06, 2023, In a significant event under the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF), Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, inaugurated the 5th session of the Arab-Chinese Library and Information Experts' meeting. The session, held today, revolved around the theme 'Library Services Transformation Amidst Changing Information Environments.'
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures, including Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, the General Supervisor of King Abdulaziz Public Library (KAPL), Hala Jad, the Arab League ambassador, and experts hailing from Arab and Chinese backgrounds.
During his inaugural address, the General Supervisor of KAPL underscored the significance of the 5th meeting, convened in Saudi Arabia at the request of the Arab League. The primary objective of the session was to activate collaborative mechanisms within the realms of libraries and data, with a specific focus on enhancing the role of libraries in augmenting digital content available in both Arabic and Chinese libraries.
Zhang Jun, the Deputy Director of the National Library of China, expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia's gracious hosting of the meeting. Jun shed light on the notable achievements in digital transformation witnessed in Chinese libraries and advocated for heightened future cooperation between Arab and Chinese libraries. The event serves as a testament to the commitment of both regions to advancing library services amidst the evolving landscape of information environments, fostering a collaborative spirit for mutual enrichment and progress.
