Riyadh, February 2, 2025 – The sixth edition of Tuwaiq Sculpture 2025 continues to captivate the Riyadh art scene, running from January 15 to February 24, 2025. This year’s program is distinguished by an engaging Community Engagement Program, which includes a series of panel discussions and hands-on workshops, designed to create meaningful dialogue between artists and the public. The initiative aims to immerse participants in the transformative world of art while emphasizing its profound influence on urban landscapes and cultural identity.

Taking place at the ROSHN Front, the event's theme, "From Then to Now: Joy in the Struggle of Making," offers a reflective exploration of art’s role in both historical and contemporary contexts. It aligns with Tuwaiq Sculpture’s vision to position Riyadh as a global center for art and creativity, further integrating the arts into the city’s identity as part of the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.

This year’s panel discussions bring together a diverse group of local artists, urban planners, and cultural experts. They delve into the evolving relationship between public sculptures and urban environments, discussing how sculptural art not only enhances the aesthetics of cities but also contributes to placemaking—the process of designing public spaces that reflect the values, culture, and visual identity of Saudi cities. Through these conversations, participants explore how public art can transform city spaces into cultural landmarks that celebrate both local and global artistic expressions.

Complementing the intellectual discussions, the Community Engagement Program includes an exciting array of hands-on workshops that are designed to foster creativity and artistic exploration among students, families, and art enthusiasts of all ages. One such offering is the Paper-Mache Workshop, a family-friendly session where participants learn about sustainable art practices by recycling materials to create their own sculptural pieces. Another highlights Natural Dyeing techniques, where participants explore traditional methods of extracting pigments from plants and minerals to color sculptures. These workshops are aimed at promoting cultural appreciation, environmental sustainability, and skill development, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of both art and the world around them.

The workshops and panel discussions serve as dynamic platforms for idea exchange, creative expression, and skill development, enhancing cultural awareness while inspiring new artistic perspectives. The Tuwaiq Sculpture 2025 series continues to push the boundaries of sculptural art, reinforcing its important role in shaping cultural identity and engaging communities in the ongoing cultural dialogue.

As one of the flagship projects of Riyadh Art, part of one of the world’s largest public art programs, Tuwaiq Sculpture strives to transform Riyadh into an "open-air gallery," where creativity flourishes and residents and visitors alike are invited to experience art in everyday spaces. This vision resonates strongly with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, positioning Riyadh as a global hub for art and culture that fosters creativity, collaboration, and cultural exchange across all disciplines.
