Najran, August 24, 2024 – The Najran region has recently experienced significant rainfall, leading to persistent flooding in the expansive Wadi Najran. This surge in floodwaters has been primarily attributed to the overflow from the Najran Dam, as well as runoff from the surrounding valleys and reefs. The flooding has continued unabated for several days, affecting the valley and its surroundings.


Wadi Najran, a major geographical feature of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stretches for an impressive 180 kilometers. It extends from the mountainous terrain in the far west of Najran city and reaches out into the sands of the Empty Quarter. The valley's width averages around 1,000 meters in the plains, and its waters are fed by tributaries originating from the Hijaz Mountains and the surrounding plateaus.


The current torrents have transformed Wadi Najran into a dramatic and picturesque landscape, flowing through lush palm plantations and historic mud houses.
