WHO urges fuel and medical supply entry to aid Gaza healthcare

Geneva, October 24, 2023, In light of Gaza's failing healthcare system, the World Health Organization (WHO) appealed for the safe entry of fuel and life-saving medical supplies. In order to send medical supplies to hospitals in northern Gaza and to Al-Shifa Hospital, whose bed capacity has surpassed 150 percent, WHO appealed for an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons. The Turkish Friendship Hospital is only working partially owing to a lack of gasoline, according to the WHO, putting the lives of 2,000 cancer patients in danger. The WHO also reported that the Indonesian hospital in Gaza had to close due to a lack of fuel.

The UN agency also reported that numerous hospitals in Gaza have shut their doors as a result of bombing damage.
