Hadhramaut, January 19, 2025 – The Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center in Seiyun district, located in Yemen’s Hadhramaut governorate, successfully provided critical medical services to 523 Yemenis who have lost limbs during the month of December 2024, with the invaluable support of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief). This significant effort was aimed at addressing the challenges faced by individuals who have suffered severe physical injuries, often as a result of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region.
During the course of the project, a total of 1,738 medical services were provided to those in need. The beneficiaries were composed of 55% males and 45% females, reflecting the inclusive nature of the initiative. Notably, 21% of the recipients were displaced individuals, while 79% were local residents, underscoring the widespread impact of the initiative across both displaced populations and host communities. The services included the fitting and rehabilitation of prosthetic limbs, specialized consultations, and physical therapy, all of which were crucial to improving the quality of life for the recipients and aiding their recovery.
This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian efforts, carried out through KSrelief, to support the healthcare sector in Yemen. By enhancing access to essential medical services and rehabilitative care, the project is a key element of the Kingdom’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, who continue to endure the hardships of conflict and displacement. Through projects like this, KSrelief plays a pivotal role in providing critical support to those who have been affected by the ongoing crisis, helping to restore dignity and improve the lives of many vulnerable individuals.
