Workshops, Dialogue Sessions Highlight Best Local and International Practices in Falconry

Riyadh, October 05, 2024 – The International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition is in full swing at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Centre in Malham, located north of Riyadh. The event, which runs from October 3 to 12, showcases the art of falconry and offers a deep dive into the world of falcons through workshops, discussions, and exhibitions on falcon care and breeding. With over 400 exhibitors representing 45 countries, the exhibition has positioned itself as a global hub for falconry enthusiasts and professionals alike.

The event features a diverse program of 26 workshops and interactive sessions led by an array of speakers, trainers, and experts from local, Arab, and international communities. These sessions provide invaluable insights and educational content aimed at sharing the best practices in falconry, shedding light on modern technical innovations, and discussing crucial legislation surrounding falconry, export, and investment. The overarching theme is not only to elevate awareness of falconry but also to promote environmental sustainability and responsible hunting practices.

On the second day of the event, the workshops drew a large number of visitors, who actively engaged with the experts. Kazakh artist Yesengali Sadyrbaev captivated the audience with his workshop titled "Art as a Bridge: Documenting the Legacy and Future of Falconry." He eloquently spoke about the rich symbolism embedded in falconry and hunting within Arab culture, offering a creative lens on historical and cultural elements. Meanwhile, French falconer Philippe Hertel led another thought-provoking workshop, "Sustainable Falconry: Hunting with Falcons at Airports," where he explored the potential challenges and solutions related to managing airport environments for sustainable falconry practices.

The Saudi Falcons Club, the key organizer behind the exhibition, plays a pivotal role in championing the conservation of falcons and promoting the falconry tradition. Through its series of workshops, dialogues, and specialized focus groups, the club is dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability, improving falcon healthcare and breeding techniques, and fostering innovation in falconry equipment. By engaging with industry stakeholders, the club also seeks to enhance legislation and regulations that support sustainable hunting and ensure the preservation of this time-honored practice for future generations.
