Following a 2-day technical meeting in Riyadh, organized by the Local Organising Committee, sports officials monitor the execution of intricate plans for the World Combat Games (October 21–30). Switzerland's Lausanne - During a recent site visit to Riyadh in preparation for the Games, representatives from the 16 foreign federations competing in the World Combat Games 2023 participated in extensive technical and operational discussions. In the presence of HRH Princess Delayel Bint Nahar Al Saud, CEO of the Asian Games (Riyadh 2034), the workshop was presided over by HH Prince Fahd bin Jalawi, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC). Ivo Ferriani, the president of SportAccord, who headed the delegation, summarized the progress accomplished so far: "Significant progress has been made to assure supporters and viewers around the world will enjoy a Games to remember. I want to express my gratitude to Stephan Fox, president of the Alliance of Independent Recognized Members of Sports (AIMS) and head of combat sports, who has been in charge of many areas of the Games' planning and communication with the International Federations. The magnificent King Saud University and stadium, the ideal location for the World Combat Games 2023, will host competitions and cultural events for spectators and locals. Fans will be able to congregate in a fan zone that includes a cultural square and pavilion between events to engage in sports demonstrations and activities organized by international federations and exhibitors while also learning about the local culture. We are incredibly happy to be hosting the World Combat Games in Riyadh, said Ian Reid, CEO of the 2023 World Combat Games in Riyadh. Ian Reid also served as CEO of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. Despite the fact that there is still much to be done, I am optimistic that everyone's efforts will result in the experiences and excitement that fans have come to anticipate. We hope to make this year's World Combat Games unique, motivating people to try new sports and inspiring many. The 2023 World Combat Games will only be aired by Spring Media, a sports media company located in Sweden, with the exception of the MENA region. Every facet of the Games was covered in the workshop sessions, including operations particular to each sport, transportation, media, medical, anti-doping, and special events.
