Jeddah, March 23, 2025 – Saudi Arabia and countries around the world observe World Kidney Day on March 11 each year to raise awareness about the importance of kidney health, preventive measures, the need for regular kidney checkups, and the connection between diabetes, high blood pressure, and chronic kidney disease.

The Ministry of Health continues to promote healthy lifestyle habits to prevent kidney disease, including regular exercise (at least 150 minutes a week), staying hydrated, eating daily servings of vegetables and fruits, maintaining a healthy weight, monitoring blood pressure regularly, and checking blood sugar levels annually.

The ministry also cautioned against smoking, as it increases the buildup of harmful oxidants in the kidneys, blocks renal arteries, and elevates the risk of kidney cancer.
