Marib, September 30, 2024 – Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak visited ongoing infrastructure projects in Yemen, reviewing the progress of the Al-Abr Road expansion and rehabilitation and the renovation of the Al-Wadeeah Border Crossing, both overseen by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY). The prime minister, accompanied by the Director of the SDRPY office in Marib Governorate, Ali Al-Dosari, and several officials and specialists, assessed the completion of the first phase of the Al-Abr Road project. This section spans 50 kilometers, stretching from Al-Dhuwabi to Al-Abr. Additionally, he evaluated the progress of the second phase of the project, which covers a further 40 kilometers from Ghuwayrban to Al-Dhuwabi, aimed at enhancing the road network that connects vital areas in Yemen, facilitating easier movement for both civilians and goods.
During his visit, Dr. bin Mubarak also examined the ongoing developments at the Al-Wadeeah Border Crossing renovation project. This initiative includes the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing ones, as well as completing roadways, yards, and other infrastructural components at the border crossing. The project also encompasses the installation of road layers, sidewalks, yards, fences, security gates, and traffic and directional signage, alongside modern security surveillance systems. Furthermore, the project focuses on upgrading essential utilities like water and energy resources, ensuring the crossing operates efficiently and securely.
These initiatives are part of the broader sustainable development efforts spearheaded by SDRPY across various sectors in Yemen. The program has implemented projects in education, healthcare, water, energy, transportation, and agriculture. It also focuses on capacity building for the Yemeni government and fostering development programs to help stabilize and reconstruct key areas of the country. SDRPY's work continues to play an essential role in rebuilding Yemen's infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its citizens, marking significant progress in the nation’s recovery.
