Yousef Masrahi makes history with Saudi Arabia's first Asian Games gold

Riyadh, September 30, 2023, Saudi runner Yousef Masrahi has etched his name in history, securing Saudi Arabia's inaugural gold medal at the 19th Asian Games hosted in Hangzhou, China. The historic moment unfolded in the presence of Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz, who led the Saudi delegation at the prestigious event.

Masrahi's remarkable performance propelled him to victory in the men's 400m race, clocking an impressive time of 45.55 seconds. This triumph harked back to his groundbreaking achievement a decade ago when he clinched Saudi Arabia's first medal in the same event during the 2014 Asian Games, also held in Hangzhou.

Prince Fahd bin Jalawi extended warm congratulations to Masrahi for his monumental feat. He further expressed gratitude to Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, for unwavering support that has cultivated an environment enabling Saudi athletes to excel on the global stage.
