Zamzam Water Quenches Pilgrims' Thirst

Pilgrims visiting the Grand Mosque during Hajj drink the sacred water of Zamzam to quench their thirst and express gratitude to Allah Almighty.

- While performing Hajj, the holy water of Zamzam is used by pilgrims who visit the Grand Mosque to quench their thirst and to be grateful to Allah Ta'ala.


- The administration of Zamzam Watering System also looks after the maintenance and cleanliness of water containers with its responsibility to supply chilled and normal water from the Well of Zamzam.

On June 18, 2024, Mina saw pilgrims sipping Zamzam’s divine water during Hajj ceremonies in the Great Mosque to quench their thirst Additionally, within the Mosque, the believers thank Allah for giving them His grace and various conveniences for 45 years now the Zamzam Well has been under the leadership of the Zamzam water system management. They are responsible for distributing chilled and ordinary water from the well into containers, as well as maintaining and cleaning the water containers. Additionally, the management maintains cleanliness and temperature control to ensure pilgrims receive cold water. The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque developed a laboratory to examine and sterilize the water that is used in Zamzam. Our primary objective is to guarantee that water is pure, clean and free from pollutants. Instead of using chemicals, ultraviolet radiation is applied to sterilize it. The method involves using energy equal to one Watt per 36 liters of water killed. Its relevance is in preserving this water color purity known as Zamzam.
