The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) are encouraging taxpayers to make the most of the "Cancellation of Fines and Exemption of Financial Penalties Initiative," set to conclude on December 31, 2023.
Under this initiative, ZATCA specifies that taxpayers can be exempted from fines related to late registration, delayed payment, overdue tax return filing, VAT return adjustment, and violations of e-invoicing and general VAT provisions.
To qualify for exemption, ZATCA stipulates that taxpayers must be registered in the tax law, submit all tax returns to ZATCA, and settle any outstanding tax returns. If requested during the initiative's validity, due taxes can be paid in installments, with the condition that all installments are settled on the specified due dates set by ZATCA.
It is essential to note that the initiative excludes fines for tax evasion and those paid before its effective date. Detailed information on the initiative, including the types of fines covered, terms of exemption, installment plans for financial dues, and examples of violations included, is available in the Simplified Guide on ZATCA's website.
For inquiries, taxpayers can contact ZATCA through its 24/7 call center hotline at 19993, customer care account: @Zatca_Care, email: [email protected], or instant messages on ZATCA's website: zatca.gov.sa.
