ZATCA urges taxpayers: use fine cancellation, penalty exemption by June 30

Riyadh, March 12, 2024, The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has issued a call to all taxpayers to seize the opportunity presented by the "Cancellation of fines and exemption of financial penalties" initiative, set to conclude on June 30, 2024.

Under this initiative, fines related to various tax systems, including late registration, payment, and submission of tax returns, as well as errors in VAT returns and violations of VAT field control regulations pertaining to e-invoicing, are eligible for exemption. The initiative does not cover penalties for tax evasion or fines incurred prior to its effective date.

To benefit from the exemption, taxpayers must be registered with the tax system and ensure all outstanding returns are submitted to the authority. Additionally, they must settle all principal debts associated with overdue tax returns, with the option of arranging installment payments for these debts.

Applicants must submit their exemption requests while the initiative is active and adhere to the payment schedule outlined in the installment plan approved by the authority.

Detailed information regarding eligible penalties, exemption criteria, installment payment procedures, and field control violations is available on the authority's website. ZATCA encourages taxpayers to make use of this initiative before its conclusion in June and invites inquiries through various channels, including the 24/7 call center at 19993, the "Ask Zakat, Tax, and Customs" account on the X platform (@Zatca_Care), email ([email protected]), or instant messaging on the ZATCA website (zatca.gov.sa).
